Day 2: MORE Readers Reveal Their Outdoor Spaces!!!!

Welcome to Day #2 of our May #30DayFlip reader reveals! If you missed Day 1, visit this link to see what our talented readers have created. This month’s 30-day flip has been all about updating our outdoor spaces. Some of us focused on enclosed patios, some of us created container gardens, some of us simply added a few pops of color. Whatever the method, readers really rocked this challenge and you should all be SO proud. I love how supportive our readers are of each other throughout the month.

So in their own words, here are the before & afters of some of the prettiest outdoor spaces in town!

Before and after: Outdoor lighting adds an inviting ambiance

Before and after: her chairs received a pretty update with new fabric

Sharon’s project overview: “My brick cottage only has one real outdoor living space — the front porch. When I moved in last summer, I was happy that the furniture I brought with me fit, but as this summer began, I knew I wanted something more. So I added lace curtains (from a former living room and which I finally found in one of the as yet unpacked boxes) and these way cool string lights from a sale last year at Target. They totally transformed the feel of the space! I decided to call my 30DayFlip an Updo rather than a Redo because the space is now so feminine.

I also made new slipcovers for my chair using a modern geometric that has a bit of an ikat look to it. I was happy to discover that the foam inside the Ikea cushions I bought 10 years ago were still in great shape which definitely helped the budget!

I originally thought I’d make cushions for the bench too, but as I hope to transform it into a porch swing for the June ‪#‎30DayFlip‬ (inspired by way too pricey catalog swings), I figure I’d better wait. I mean, it’d be just my luck to make a cool cushion, then ruin the bench in the DIY conversion to a swing. Not that that would happen to anyone else, right?” – by Sharon at Bringing Creativity 2 Life

“Cool, L.A. Apartment Balcony Makeover”

by Me, at Arts & Classy

Before: My balcony (see more on my blog, Arts and Classy)

After: My upcycled a chair into a colorful, pretty planter. See more here.

“Kammille’s Stenciled Concrete & Porch Refresh”

by Kammille Dunn, see more on her blog at Hukksandkisses.com

“Creating an Entirely NEW Outdoor Space”

by Linda Shinaberry

Linda’s project overview: “For the May 30 day flip we took a totally under untilzed area next to our drive and built an area with firepit and seating that we could enjoy. Started with a blank slate, leveled with gravel, topsoil, plantings, mulch, firepit and fence panels just to separate it from the back lot.. We absolutely love it and have already used it several times.” – by Linda Shinaberry

“Pamela’s Porch Refresh”

by Pamela Bell

Before & after: pretty pops of color

Pamela’s project overview: Our budget doesn’t allow for building a roof over patio, we don’t hang out here too much, hence no furniture or anything. However, you can see it from dining/kitchen windows and now it’s a much better view!!

Won’t you join us for our next #30DayFlip? You won’t regret it!
