I am excited to finally be sharing this project with you. I love using quartz crystals for healing and I had a great idea on how to store them.
I have been doing so many furniture makeovers recently (like the Goodwill cabinet and the set of three tables I made over). It was nice to take a break and work on a fun upcycle project. If you are into crystals like I am, you will love this DIY crystal storage project.
If you haven’t seen the meditation altar I made out of wooden crates then you should absolutely check that project out.
A little back story on this DIY crystal storage project.
Last year my mom and I went to the Getty Villa in Malibu. She had never been before and it was a lovely day to go. We stopped by the gift store before we left to mosey around.
My mom saw this cute little wooden box that held tea drops and I had to have them. I brought them home and used up all the drops and didn’t know what to do with the box after. I definitely wasn’t going to toss it. Instead, I decided based on its size… that it would store my quartz crystals for healing perfectly. It would work great for travel storage if I wanted to bring crystals with me.
If this is your first time here, hi… I am Meredith! I have been blogging for over 7 years. I am the creator if Arts & Classy. This site began with the hope that I could document my experience decorating my home. As a renter with little to no budget, I had to flex my creative muscles and learn how to decorate my home with things and furniture I already had or could get for free.
Years later, I have built a brand and helped many people do the same with their homes. Blogging + Social Media marketing have become passions of mine and helped me make a complete career change from working in film and tv to doing what I love in my home.
If you have been wanting to start a side hustle that you can do from home I recommend learning how to start a blog. If you want to see what resources I recommend, check out my blogging resources. I also share my blog traffic and income reports from the past few years.
Back to my story…
I went to Pinterest for inspiration on how I could make this DIY crystal storage project unique and aesthetically pleasing. After some research, I decided I wanted to paint it and create constellations and stars all over the box. I had some old vintage keys from my family sitting in my craft room for a long time, so I decided to incorporate these into the project too.
I broke out my craft paints and brushes as well as a hot glue gun and got to work on making this a masterpiece for my altar.
Here is a fun video with more information about this project.
It took a little time and a few layers of paint to get it the way I wanted but I am very happy with the finished product.
I hot glued some fabric into the inside of the box as a means to keep the crystals from clanking around. It worked out perfectly.
