13 Things To Do While in Self Quarantine at Home

We are about a month into self quarantine and you may be going a little nuts at this point. I wanted to share with you 10 things to do while in self quarantine to feel like a more productive human.

Most of us have never spent this much time at home and you may have been putting off somethings in your life because you have been so busy. Well, now is the time to knock these things off your list. I want to share as many things to do while in self quarantine for you to do in your home.

1. Organize your bedroom closet

The reason this the #1 thing to do while in self quarantine is because it is the easiest to do and it can help you make some money hopefully. If you go through your closet you may find several pieces of clothing that you never wear or don’t want anymore.

You can either sell these items on Poshmark (use my code ARTSANDCLASSY to get $10 when you sign up) OR you can send them in to Thred Up and earn money for your old clothing + get $10 for using my referral link.

If you are looking for some insight and other hacks on how to organize the items you decided to keep, make sure to refer to 14 Bedroom Closet Organization Hacks.

2. Declutter your home – Sell things you don’t want or need anymore

I would take this one room at a time. Decluttering can easily become overwhelming. I suggest making piles in each room of things to keep, toss, donate, & sell. There are so many ways to sell unwanted items in your home. I love using Facebook Marketplace and apps like (Letgo, Trove, and Offer Up) to see items I don’t want or need anymore. You can always go the craigslist route, but I have always had more spamming inquires there.

Once you have decluttered, you may be inspired to reorganize other rooms in your home. I definitely recommend Organizing Hacks under $50 & Home Organization Tips and Tricks to help you make a plan and execute it smoothly.

3. Complete a Room Makeover

Whether you are a renter or a home owner, we all know there is a room in your home that you have been wanting to makeover. You have been putting it off because the timing never felt right. Well now is the time and it will make you love sending time in your home so much more to have that room upgraded.

I have a couple of examples of some room makeovers I have tackled in the past as a renter that I wanted to share. This “makeover” doesn’t have to be a renovation. It can be as easy as moving around your furniture and decor in a different way. Or it could mean painting an accent wall. Your imagination needs to take the lead hear.

4. Go through all your bath and beauty products.

Did you know that your beauty and bath products have an expiration date? Now is the time to go through your bins of stuff and toss the expired products and reorganize what you have left. This is totally something you could tackle in an hour or two one evening.

If you want to make sure to never forget about that eyeshadow you had stuffed in the bottom of your makeup bag again… I recommend making a DIY Make Magnetic Makeup Storage board!

5. Turn some dated decor in your home into something modern and useful

Take this time that you have at home to modernize some of your existing decor. You wouldn’t believe some of the makeovers I have done with a can of spray paint that make a big impact. See some examples of projects I have completed and other inspiration for things to do while in self quarantine in your home.

6. Reorganize your linen closet

I know there have already been a couple reorganizing ideas on this list, but honestly having a clean and organized home will make you happier and less stressed. Our mind is a reflection of our surroundings. If you have a cluttered home, then there is a good chance you have a very cluttered mind.

Add some piece and calm into your home by taking out all your towels, sheets, blankets, extra supplies and find a new system of organization to keep everything easy to access and tidy.

7. Go through your receipts and paperwork – digitize them

This is something I have been working on in 2020. After our move from LA to Denver last year, I has SOOOOOOO much paperwork to go through that I honestly don’t have the space for. Going digital was the best option for me. It saves you from dealing with actual clutter in your home. Check out the videos below that talk about that process more.

8. Take an old piece of furniture and give it a makeover

Making over furniture is seriously my jam. It is something I love doing with the creative energy that I have and it helps me make extra cash on YouTube and when I see the furniture I flip. Find a piece of furniture that looks either dated or not really your style in your home. Once you have. picked your piece, do some research on what you want it to ultimately look like. I love doing this type of research on Pinterest so you have a direction to move in.

9. Clean out your garage (or storage space)

It’s too often that I see the garage or any sort of outdoor storage space become a dumping ground for excess crap. Don’t let your home become this. Make it a weekend project to go through your garage with your spouse or on your own. Make sure to get rid of anything you may have forgotten about. You haven’t needed it for this long and it was clearly out of your mind… so it’s time to let it go. This is a great time to make piles here also. Keep, toss, donate, and sell!

10. Rearrange your furniture

When I was growing up, we didn’t have a lot of money. So we didn’t buy new furniture like EVER. Instead, my mom’s favorite way to change up the look of our home was to reconfigure the furniture spread. She would move everything around into a different place and it always brought some new fresh energy into the home. I definitely think there is something to the concept of rearranging.

11. Deep clean you kitchen and bathroom(s)

If COVID-19 doesn’t have you paranoid about cleanliness, then you need a reality check. We spend a lot of time in the bathroom and in the kitchen, so make sure they are extra clean and sparkly. This shouldn’t take all day. It should only take 30 min- 1 hour and if you keep it up 1x a week. You are set!

Check out this post on how to make your own disinfecting wipes with this recipe.

12. Reorganize your pantry

Since COVID-19 people have been ransacking grocery stores to stock up on food and supplies. If you are one of these people, make sure you have everything organized so you can see what you have enough of before heading to the store again.

We so easily forget what we have and I highly recommend going to the store with a list so you don’t buy too much of something you already have.

13. Get your home ready for Spring!

Spring is basically here. Let’s act like it. I know the world feels like it’s on pause, but it doesn’t have to feel like it in your home. That is why I recommend busying yourself with some fun Spring decorating to help you keep your spirits up as one of the many things to do while in self quarantine.
